Mapping core self-evaluation research:a bibliometric analysis of trends, influences, and future directions

Description
This study aims to provide an overview of the primary status of research in the core self-evaluation field and explores research hotspots, influences and future trends. This study searched the Scopus database for relevant publications on core self-evaluation from 2001 to 2023, cleaned and harmonized messy data using the OpenRefine and biblioMagika tools, and carried out bibliometric analyses employing the biblioMagika tool, VOSviewer and Biblioshiny software. The findings showed that publication numbers have continued to increase, and author productivity mainly conforms to Lotka’s law, with approximately 66.35% of authors publishing one paper. Judge Timothy A. demonstrated the highest productivity among scholars with the most published papers, total citations, h-index, and g-index. The University of Florida and the Renmin University of China were identified as the most productive institutions with a relatively high number of publications, total citations, h-index, and g-index. Besides, China and the United States were identified as the countries that made the most significant contributions to the literature field. This study also highlighted the research directions of core self-evaluation keywords, such as core self-evaluation, job satisfaction, life satisfaction, personality, work engagement, and job performance. Moreover, this study conducted co-authorship analysis, co-occurrence analysis of the author’s keywords, thematic map analysis, and thematic evolution analysis of core self-evaluation research, filling significant gaps in this research field. These analyses help researchers to have a more comprehensive understanding of the research prospects and development trends of core self-evaluation and provide clear directions and guidance for future research.
